We Will Defeat The Coronavirus

Together We Can

As the world sadly observes the tragic spread of the coronavirus and as WHO officials declare the situation a pandemic, we sit around wondering what awaits us. Some of us are asking ourselves, “Is this the end of times?” The reality is that things will only get better from here on. We might continue to experience a rise in infections in the short term, but the virus has officially spread throughout the world; it has no where else to go. We will defeat the coronavirus.

As most people know, DSM focuses most of its energy on mental health matters. While the coronavirus is a physical illness, the stress and mental burden that it has brought upon this world is beyond imaginable. A lot of us might think to ourselves, “Doesn’t affect me. I’m good!” But it’s easy to think like that when you don’t have a loved one who is infected or worse, passed away from the virus.

We have to remind ourselves to not joke about such matters because even if it doesn’t affect us, it affects someone else out there. Oftentimes, mental health issues can prove to be much more impactful on one’s life than a physical illness. If you’re not happy or are extremely stressed, it becomes difficult to wake up every day and lead a prosperous life.

The importance of staying positive during a pandemic cannot be emphasized enough. It’s very easy to lose our cool during this tragic time, causing us to make poor and impulsive decisions. Remember that this viral war is not just a physical one, but a mental one as well. Whenever a pandemic is born, so are mental health issues around the world.

We will defeat the coronavirus over time! But we must remain supportive and not fight against each other. Maybe this coronavirus scare is meant to bring humanity closer to each other. Oftentimes, it’s through terrifying events that humanity adopts a more respectful and loving view towards each other. Unfortunately, because we are stubborn, we have to experience some pain in order for us to improve.

But together we can and we will.

Start Your Day On The Right Foot

Morning Positivity Determines The Rest Of Your Day

Our mindset dictates whether we will have a positive or negative day. It is very important to adjust your mindset in the morning if you find yourself having negative thoughts; these negative thoughts can influence how you perceive the rest of your day.

Adopting a positive mindset after you wake up in the morning helps you stay focused and determined to accomplish your goals throughout the day. Repeating this pattern everyday is what will make you happier in the long run.

Too many times, people wake up feeling negative and miserable and carry this baggage with them throughout the day. This promotes poor mental health and may lead to depression, stress, anxiety and even drug use. For some reason, the human mind is better at adopting negative thoughts on an automatic basis; that is why we must make an effort to implement positive thoughts as frequently as possible. It is easier to be negative than positive.

But do not wait until lunch time or even late afternoon to shift your mindset. Mornings are key to starting your day off right. Positive thoughts since you wake up will have you feeling better by lunch time and help your day go more smoothly. After all, the most important meal of the day is in the morning!

The Power Of Being Thankful

Being Thankful Will Deliver You More Positive Results

We are so bombarded with work, education and distractions that we forget one important thing: being thankful for everything we have. Depression and anxiety can stem from being overstressed, but did you know that by reminding yourself everyday of all the things you have to be thankful for, can lower your chances of developing a mental illness?

This is because by being thankful on a daily basis, you force yourself to recognize all the good things you have in your life, which uplifts your mood and stabilizes your mind; stabilization takes you down the right path in life.

But one mistake people make is that they are not thankful enough. Being thankful once in a blue moon is like trying to lose weight by exercising once a month; it’s not going to happen. The key word is “daily.” Everyday, from morning to night, you should be thankful in your heart and in your mind.

Remind yourself of all the great things you have: the job you have, your family who is still around, the roof above your head, the good health you are in, etc. This is called positive reinforcement; you are self-delivering encouragement for the life you lead.

Being thankful helps to keep negative thoughts away. Remember that your mind is like a garden; weeds (negative thoughts) don’t take effort to grow, but flowers (positive thoughts) must be carefully planted and taken care of on a daily basis; otherwise, they rot.

Rotting is equivalent to poor mental health: depression, anxiety and even hallucinations. It’s time for you to forget about yesterday, and start being thankful for today.

Free Yourself From Pain

Pain Causes Stagnation

Why is it that no matter how much we accomplish, we still are stabbed by pain? It’s like the air or water is polluted with a toxin that makes its way into our brain and degrades us into depression. Whatever the source is, all we can do is learn how to deal with the present situation and free ourselves from pain. But you may ask, how?

The key is to turn your everyday events into a positive experience; this includes the way you view your job, friends, family, activities, home, car, income, etc. You want to view everything you have in a positive way. This way, you will train your mind to stay positive and in return, you will attract more positivity into your life. It’s easier said than done, but often times, we do not even make the effort to try. This is a way of life that I am suggesting, and until you are willing to apply it, the pain will continue.

Show More Love

Love Trumps All

We live in a very competitive society, to the point that we have lost one important feature: love. We are so focused on getting ahead of one another, that we forget how to show love towards others; even towards our family! It is through love that we can get things done easier, garner more positive energy and move forward towards the destination we want to reach.

Love is contagious; the more we spread it, the more it comes back to us. Don’t let this fast-paced society turn you into a zombie; you are a God-loving spirit who needs to go back to his or her roots and utilize the strongest asset in your arsenal: love.

Via love, we will accomplish things more smoothly and our mental health will prosper in return. It doesn’t matter if you’re rich or poor, love is endless and does not judge. Speaking of judging, don’t let judgement cloud your heart.

Spread love like birds spread their wings and flap that positive energy at everyone coming your way. By showing more love, you will fly high!
