Happy New Year

New Opportunity To Redefine Yourself

Every new year is an opportunity to start fresh and redefine yourself as you’ve always wanted; out with the old and in with the new. The end of an old year may bring upon many memories, some good and some bad. The bad memories are the ones that sting the most, but you have to find a way to leave them behind. It’s time for a happy new year.

Many people have a new year’s resolution, only to quickly give up on it within a few days into the new year. Rather than coming up with a resolution, focus on living every single day in a happy state of mind. Don’t be so hard on yourself; try to enjoy every moment of life, no matter how painful it may be.

If you are depressed around the new year, remind yourself that so are millions of other people around the world; you are not alone! But just because you’re battling a mental illness does not mean that you cannot be hopeful for a better year. It always comes down to your mindset: plant the seeds of happiness and water them every day until they come to fruition.

It’s definitely true that we are living during a time of hatred, as evidenced by the recent Texas church shooting and the anti-semitic attacks in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Monsey, New York. But this should not be an excuse for you to not live a happy and prosperous life.

Don’t view the new year as “just another year rolling in.” This is a pessimistic way of viewing life, and if you continue to view it in this way, your state of mind will continue to take a negative hit. We have control over our minds, so let’s utilize this control to our advantage. Let’s utilize it to not only make ourselves happy, but everyone else around us as well!

The new year is a new opportunity to redefine yourself. Don’t start it off on the wrong foot by swimming in negativity. Rather, stand up tall and remind yourself that you can always improve your current state of affairs, if you just change they way that you think about yourself, and the way in which you view your surroundings.

It can be done if you put your mind and heart into it. Happy new year!
